The series of Thursday night talks is designed to invite talented individuals to inspire and enlighten – from chefs to tattoo artists and everyone inbetween. Last week we had the chance to meet the food designer Pasquale Pontillo, aka Archichef.nl “At the Bar”. Pasquale shared his thoughts about food, packaging, recipes and design, by talking us through his projects from the very first sketch to their final completion.©MonyartPasquale worked for many years in Italy as an architect and interior designer. When he moved to Amsterdam he decided to take the opportunity of marking a turning point in his professional career by combining his expertise in design with his true passion for food and cooking.©Monyart

He remembers that, as a child, his mum and dad always used to say: “don’t play with the food!”… well now, as a grown-up, he is finally taking the pleasure of disobeying this rule and being playful and creative with recipes and ingredients.©MonyartHe applies this essential philosophy to most of his projects: from packaging design to workshops, from private dinners to big events like the Amsterdam Fashion Week.

In Pasquale’s vision, eating is a social experience that needs to be shared. That’s why in all his events, he loves to bring people together and push them to interact with each other. A good example of this is his “Attaccabottone” dinner, where all the guests have to cooperate and form a common tablecloth by buttoning all their napkins together.©Monyart
