Shave Money. Shave Time.

I have no doubt that the next big razor in the market will be a feat of ergonomic engineering and will probably ‘cut hairs other razors can’t reach’, but it just doesn’t engage anymore. Basically, I’m cynical. So, as you can imagine, chancing upon a company called Dollar Shave Club was a most refreshing experience.

Has the Badger lost its heritage?

The last time I was back at home my Dad brought out two bottles of Badger’s ‘Fursty Ferret’, one bottle displaying the old label, the other with Badger’s new label. Fursty Ferret is cask ale full of character, both in flavour and in heritage. It is also one of the best selling bottled ales in the UK supermarkets so this was an interesting discovery.

Beer targeted at women: can it be credible?

Feminisation has long been a fundamental problem for the beer industry. Recent research has shown nearly 80% of women don’t drink beer, and this lack of attraction could be accredited to the lack of effort from brewers in the past to make the female market feel more included.

The Story Deli Popup

The other evening, whilst hovering around the East End of London, I happened across a popup style pizza place in the remains of what used to be a scooter garage. It turned out the Story Deli, a well-known pizzeria at The Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, had moved and settled up shop, not two minutes from [...]

40th Birthday Facelift for Starbucks

Starbucks have redesigned their iconic logo to coincide with their 40th birthday. The redesign aims to honour their heritage and the equities that have made up their logo for the past 40 years. The answer to the challenge was simplicity, a zeitgeist that has recently been leading the evolution of many brand redesigns (think Coca [...]

Pricewaterhousecoopers’ move to pwc

The news that PriceWaterhouseCoopers has officially changed its name and identity is quite exciting to me. The look and feel of the old corporate logo, and notoriously long name, always struck me as slightly anomalous within the professional services arena (especially in the close company of corporations such as Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Ernst & Young, [...]

Old Spice leading the way in social media marketing

Look at your brand. Now look at this brand. Now back to your brand. Now back to this one. By now, I am sure we have all enjoyed at least one of the Old Spice adverts with our friend, and suave manly gentleman, Isiah Mustafa. Old Spice had long since suffered with a slightly stuffy [...]

Design Bridge charity cycle ride – we made it!

We set off from London at 7.30am fresh and excited; many never having worn spandex before. Miles of tarmac, gravel, and pot holes passed beneath us; town houses, village greens and fields of vibrant Rape Seed flown by. The effort from everyone was outstanding and truly motivating. Cheers and whistles would ring out from the [...]

Design Bridge charity cycle ride on 7 May

After seeing various emails going around the Design Bridge London office about the increasingly large number of women doing Cancer Research UK’s Race For Life 5K run in July, some of the men in Design Bridge decided to up the ante and organise an all-male charity 126 mile cycle ride across the UK. Our team [...]

Cadbury’s Cocoa Houses

Cadbury is extending the brand into the high street café arena with an aim to launch up to 60 ‘Cocoa House’ outlets in the not so distant future. Concepts include afternoon tea, chocolatier services and novelty oversized classic Cadbury brands, such as the Curly Wurly and Flake. There are all the obvious risks associated with [...]
