Longing for the comforts of home, some of the more anglo-orientated members of the Amsterdam studio decided it was time to have a good old Blighty themed knees-up. Festooning the studio with great British delicacies and decor, Design Bridge Amsterdam was set up for an evening of thoroughly British capers and a slap-up meal.

As you may have noticed from previous blog posts, we do like a bit of lettering and signage here at DB. This week the 3D team had the pleasure of visiting sign manufacturer John Anthony Signs in Essex, who create beautifully crafted signage for famous brands such as Harrods, Louis Vuitton and Ferrari.

Friends of Friday Favourites is a special edition featuring work of creative friends and acquaintances of people at DB. When asking for suggestions, we had so many we made it a two parter, as we also uncovered quite a few people who produced their own creative work on the side including illustration and hand crafted leather wallets.

We’ve had a great start to the year so far, winning Mobius awards for two projects – our 25th anniversary book and Plymouth Gin. Also, later this year Graham Shearsby and Asa Cook will appear on judging panels for both the Pentawards and the Design Week Awards.

Our lovely clients at Tate & Lyle invited us to help them raise money for children’s hospice charity Richard House. This time the theme was Childhood Favourites, and there were some amazing efforts including home made Jammie Dodgers, Bakewell tart, Malteser cupcakes and a whole Battenburg cake.

This year the red carpet was rolled out for the 2012 Design Bridge Academy Awards – aka the Design Bridge Amsterdam Christmas party. Neil reports on the ‘celebrity’ fest that included The Spice Girls, Hannibal Lecter and Audrey Hepburn to name a few.
