Dog’s Bollocks Student Awards 2013: Call for Entries

Brief: Reinterpret a famous brand
Final year university student? This is your chance to win a paid work placement in our London studio, potentially for a full time position.
In 2000, we started our student competition – with thousands of entries from all over the UK and over the past few years lots of international entries. Check out the winners from 2011 and also 2012 here to see what we’re talking about.
Asa, who is now Creative Director, won the very first competition with his ‘Sheep in a Canoe’ design. The brief was to design the Euro for the UK. And it’s a ‘ewe-row’. Geddit? Asa has been the first of many talented designers to join through the years. Mike, Hayley, Sapphire, Dan, Alice, Felicity, Lyndon and myself – we all joined this way. All the entries shared the same trait: big ideas – which is what we aim for in all our work.
Over the years we have tweaked the Student Brief, but have found our most creative entries have always been in answer to our ‘Reinterpret’ challenge, so for 2013 we want you to choose a famous brand, product or service and redesign it in a breakthrough way.
Everything is up for grabs: logo, colour, shape, texture… but what we are really looking for is a big idea.
Our runners up from last year, Alice Douglas-Deane, created the fabulous City Cat pet food work, and she has recently just joined us as a full-time junior designer:
“I really recommend entering the Dog’s Bollocks Student Awards, even though I was only a runner-up I got the opportunity to come to Design Bridge on placement which led to me getting a job here. The brief was open but had an exciting focus and was probably my best project I did at University.”
The deadline for the award entries is not until May 2013, so there’s plenty of time. Submit your work, or any questions about the awards to this email:dbawards13@designbridge.com
