Favourites found this week

It’s been a while since our last ‘Favourites this week’ post, but here’s the first one for this year (better late than never). Here are a few things we’ve got excited about this week in the world of art, design and branding:

From Irina Werning’s Back to the Future

Earlier today Jonny picked up on photographer Irina Werning’s Back to the Future series, which I immediately recognised from the Newspeak: British Art Now exhibition at the Saatchi gallery, as it was one of my favourite ideas in the whole exhibition. Or was it?  It turns out that the artist I saw at the Saatchi was actually Clarisse d’Arcimoles, who has done a very similar project (example below). Either way, I still love the idea and the execution, but I did wonder – who had it first? Or is it the same person with an alter-ego and I’ve been totally fooled…?!

From Clarisse d’Arcimoles ‘Un-possible Retour’

Au coin de ma rue is a great blog about ordinary people on the street, that have an ‘intangible something’ that makes them unforgettable. Each person is photographed, then photographed a year later with objects that describe their lives, with a story attached to each one. Here’s one example, find more, and the details here.

Georgina Luck’s wonderful packaging illustrations, which based on purely the style, make me feel strangely nostalgic for some reason. Anyone care to explain why? Found via The Dieline:
