Friday Favourites

On Behance this week, Dan found Anastassia Elias’ paper cut collage scenes, which live inside the insides of toilet rolls. I love the simplicity of these, and the way they are brought to life with light so make you feel like you are peeking into a tiny fantasy world. Here are a couple of examples, but there are lots of others, including snapshots from a hairdresser’s, a boxing ring, street scenes, woodland scenes and more here.

Always happy to admire a bit of nice packaging, we were happy to find Chocolate Editions by Mary & Matt, who – as Iona described it – ‘make ridiculously cool chocolate. This marbled packaging is just WOW. Everything a small, fast company should be’.
I’m particularly drawn to their caramel bar personally, but the other bars also look amazing – check out the Neapolitan bar.

Iona shared the blog from Brooklyn flower/soap company Saipua, which is chock full of beautiful photography by Sarah Ryhanen:  ’I love the way her photography explores darkness and subtle tones, it’s so much more interesting than all those vibrant brights I’m used to seeing on Pinterest, etc. There’s also something slightly classical in the colours which feels just right; will we be shifting away from mid century sooner rather than later I wonder?’.

Gokce brought everyone a bit of joy by sharing this stop motion animation ‘Fresh Guacamole’ by PES, which contains some lovely creative ideas.

Thanks to Jim W for sharing these creations by Dominic Wilcox. His ‘Britain out of Jaffa Cakes’ project really made us smile, especially the bit where he apparently got distracted and ate the Loch Ness Monster by mistake. I think my favourite is Stonehenge, appropriately lit by the sun, which shines through the orange packaging film. This was found via Dezeen.

In my opinion, more things should be made from biscuits. It reminded me of this project that happened yonks ago, but is still lovely.

Andy B freaked everyone out by sharing Don’t Hug me I’m Scared, a film by the fabulous This is It Collective. It’s all about being creative. It really stays with you, that’s all I’m going to say about it.
