The Dog’s Bollocks Student Awards 2017: The Brief

Please note that the deadline for entries to this competition are now closed and the winners have been announced here.

In the meantime, you can can read the brief below….

The brief for our annual Dog’s Bollocks Student Awards competition is here.

Similar to last year, we’re asking students to win us over with a compelling, bold design solution for something that YOU care about.

We want to be inspired, amused, maybe even shocked.

Click here to get the full brief, judging criteria, prize information and everything else you need to know.

We asked some of our previous winners and runners-up (who are now permanent members of the team) to share some advice for students entering the competition. Here’s what they had to say…

“Make the most of uni resources, like letter pressing and screen printing, if they are available. The knowledge of these crafts is invaluable!” – Toby Roberts, runner-up in 2014.

“Make sure you get out and about to get inspired, it will set your work apart. An original solution is unlikely to come from a Google search.” – Morgan Swain, received a Gold award for her work on J20 and was a runner-up for her work on Cholula in 2013.

“This competition is a real opportunity to share a piece of YOU with us in an original way. Use the broadness of the brief to your advantage so we can see a unique idea, in a unique execution, from a unique person!” – Sam Harvey, received 3D Gold and a 2D Bronze awards in 2014.

You can check out the winning work from the 2016 competition here, the 2015 Student Awards here, as well as the 2014 2D award winners and 3D award winners, and 2013’s winners.

Good luck!
