With our Friday Favourites hero Anna being on a well deserved holiday, this week’s Friday Favourites is coming from our Amsterdam Studio. We have collected our most favourite Instagram accounts to follow and have selected our top recommendations for you. Amazingly creative and insightful work to spice up your daily dose of inspiration. Enjoy!
Alicia is recommending Zu Kalinowska, film and art director but also a personal friend. Zu’s feed is full of the unexpected and the surreal: meat, jelly and hair are favourite materials for her often unsettling and always beautiful work.
Next up is Jade’s shortlist, starting with some powerful illustrations from Seenaeme, a Korean illustration artist that creates super cute characters and beautiful murals.
Jade is also recommending Chinese Whiskers, photography of shop cats in Hong Kong and China. Sometimes it’s super difficult to spot the cat!
Last on her list this week is De Gournay. Something to just dream about.. but such a pleasure to gawk at all the lovely things they make!
Brendan’s favourite is Julian Wakeling. ‘I love his posts. His street photography feels like mini windows into his world; we are invited to take a seat as viewer; people watching, witness to snippets of day-to-day life, often with lovely plays on light and shadow. Reminds me of some of the stunning work of Saul Leiter‘.
One of Benjamin’s favourites is Present & Correct - ‘A little store in Angel, London, they sell vintage stationery, most of which they find in flea markets in France and around Europe. Beautiful, satisfying Instagram full of nice things.’
Another lovely recommendation, Cover Junkie. ‘As designers who can influence the world around us, it’s important to be aware of the conversations, design, politics and culture worldwide. This is a curated collection that combines all of this for easy consumption with design in mind. Inspiring.’ Thanks for sharing this both Zayne and Leanne!
Fabio is sharing the crème de la crème of Uglydesign, refreshing, hilarious and yes, inspirational! ‘Cause dont’s are as important as do’s’, according to Fabio.
Next one is this slightly darkly comic series on Instagram called Poorly drawn lines – Thanks for sharing this one, Alexandra!
Elisa is recommending Elisa!
‘This Elisa is a fashion editor and on this account, she posts very controversial and stimulating images, I love scrolling through this feed for inspiration because it sparks my imagination.
For the books AND icecream lovers amongst us, Elisa is also sharing the Ice Cream Books. Perfect for Friday afternoon inspiration in June!
Nothing but the Wax is telling untold stories of African Millennials through culture, fashion & beauty. An insightful Instagram account to follow. Thank you for this tip Leanne!
Architectural inspiration can be found at Luciano Kruk’s page, tipped by Sarah Katarina. Amazing and beautiful design.
And last but not least, a tip from Gary which also happens to be my personal favourite; Oftheafternoon!
There’s something addictive in these beautiful, satisfying images on their Instagram.
Well, that’s it for this week folks! Let’s start following and enjoy your weekends!
