Life drawing seems to be having a bit of a moment at Design Bridge, and once a month we hold life drawing class in our London and Singapore Studios where anyone can come along and have a go. And do you know what? We’ve discovered some very talented artists as a result!
In London, the fabulous Bella Franks takes our class (some of the results above, as displayed in our cafe), whilst over in Singapore Dan Wong of A Good Citizen is our teacher. Here’s Sam Foster, a Senior Designer in Singapore, to tell you a bit more…
“For the last few months at Design Bridge Singapore we’ve been taking part in life drawing – the art of drawing the human figure in any of its various shapes and postures, using any medium. Some of us are experienced in drawing, others are only just beginning, but what’s great is that the class caters to all levels of expertise, and Dan finds a way to challenge everyone and teach us all something new.
Not only is this a fun, after work experience, but it’s something that helps us all – especially the designers, including Hieu who said, “Being able to sketch out an idea not only quickly, but also accurately really helps us on a daily basis when trying to communicate an idea at work – it can make or break an idea.”
It’s been fantastic to see so many people getting involved and having a great time, as well as seeing the vast range of styles and techniques used when we showcase our work at the end of the night. And, on a personal note, I’d like to say a very special “thank you” to Anke, our Creative Services Director, for organising all of this. We’re all thoroughly enjoying it – bring on next month!”
Want to take part in our next life drawing class? We’re looking for people to join the teams in London and Singapore (plus Amsterdam and New York, too) – you can find out more on our Careers page.
