Revitalising Herdade do Peso wines for Vinhos Sogrape in
Portugal.
Challenge
The local climate and soils make the Herdade do Peso wine range
unique, even within the Alantejo region. Despite this, a generic,
dated image and overshadowing by big-budget competitors meant low
brand recognition, decline and the ultimate threat of de-listing.
Vinhos Sogrape asked us to create a future-conscious brand identity
that would more accurately reflect the authenticity and excellence
of these wines and drive the brand forward.
Solution
The winery and its setting, in an almost barren yet peaceful and
haunting landscape, inspired our big brand idea: 'Tranquillity in a
Bottle'. We reflected this stark but calming environment in a
subtle, minimal design that also echoes the winery's architecture,
wittily reinterpreting it as a reminder of the multi-sensory nature
of wine tasting through sight, smell and taste. This exercise in
restraint and attention to detail in layout has successfully
repositioned Herdade do Peso as a premium brand - unique, credible,
authentic and desirable.
