Introduction
Creating an identity for the Sacha Lichine wine brand and
designing the first UK range.
Challenge
When Sacha Lichine, son of maverick wine-maker and writer
Alexis, inherited his father's business, he approached us to create
a brand identity that would reflect Alexis' heritage and
egalitarian approach to wine as well as Sacha's own, progressive
entrepreneurial flair, vision and expertise. In addition, we were
asked to design the brand's first range for the UK, from modest
French country wines to a premium priced single estate.
Solution
Recognising the need for the ultimate personal approach, we
created a brand marque to symbolise the family's Russian roots,
Sacha's Francophilia and his father's significant influence on US
winemaking and captioned it with the 'Vins Sans Frontieres'
strapline. Our label graphics and illustrations capture the
character of the five wine ranges, imbuing them with personalities
as distinctive, charismatic and unconventional as the man himself.
Just as Sacha makes old world wines in new world style, we created
a brand identity that combines tradition and gravitas with
contemporary irreverence.
