Now in its 5th year, we’re taking applications for our Graduate Scheme in London, which is specifically aimed at those wanting to kickstart a career in a client servicing/account management or brand strategy role at a creative agency.
Based in our London Studio, our Graduates will work on a variety of live projects across a mix of clients and sectors, learning about the full creative process along the way.
The day-to-day will be varied and you’ll work on everything from briefings and proposal writing to project planning, competitor analysis to innovation workshops. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about other aspects of the business by spending some of your time working with (and learning from) other teams such as Business Development, Operations and Production, which will give you valuable insight into how a creative agency functions.
From the very beginning you’ll be assigned a mentor – someone who has worked at Design Bridge for a little while now – who will work closely with you during the year, helping you develop your skills and seek out the best opportunities for you to learn and grow within the business. And there will be plenty of time to get stuck into Studio life, too. Whether it’s going to talks and exhibitions with teammates, helping organise social activities in the Studio, or simply getting to know people a little better over a couple of drinks or a good strong cuppa, there’s always something to get involved in if you want to.
We’re happy to say that many of our previous Graduates are still part of the DB family, so when your year comes to an end, there may be an opportunity to become a permanent member of the team, too.
We are open to applications from all sorts of people with a true passion for brands, design and creativity, but please note that we can only consider applicants who are due to graduate in 2020, or graduated in 2019.
This scheme is for people who genuinely want to build a career in a client servicing/account management or brand strategy, so if being a Designer is your dream job then this isn’t for you – but you should consider entering our Dog’s Bollocks Student Awards competition for the opportunity to get your work in front of some of the best creative people around, and maybe even win a paid placement in the Studio.
You’ll find the application form on our Careers page.
As well as your CV and details – name, contact, university/college, course and predicted grade – you will need to complete 2 tasks:
1) As a Cover Letter, in 100 words (or thereabouts) tell us a little bit about yourself: what most interests you about brands, what makes you want to work at Design Bridge, and which team you think you’d be best suited to and why – Client Servicing or Strategy.
2) Respond to the following brief: Tell us about a brand you really love – and why!
This could be any brand – big and global, small and local, a personal brand, even. You can interpret the brief however you wish and your response can be presented in any format you like, but it will need to be uploaded as a document, such as a Word doc or PDF.
The document you submit could contain a link to a film you’ve made on YouTube, perhaps it’s a written piece, or maybe you’ll design a poster. Original thinking is at the heart of everything we do at Design Bridge, and we want to see how you think. We’re looking for compelling, bold and innovative ideas that are communicated in an engaging way. We love a good story, and we want to see your passion for brands, design and creativity to shine through.
After the extended closing date of Wednesday 15th April we’ll review all of the applications and create a shortlist of people who will be invited in for a first interview. These will take place towards the end of the month, and those who make it through to the second stage will be invited back in for a final interview.
Successful applicants will be notified in May and will join the team in September 2020 for 1 year.
We’ve put together a pack that goes into a little more detail on the scheme including what we mean by “client servicing” and “strategy”, and also some insight from previous Grad Scheme-ers who are now part of the team. Click the image below to open it (note: a PDF will open in your browser window so you may need to allow pop-ups to see it).
It’s also a good idea to familiarise yourself with our work and our culture, so take a look around our website to get a feel for who we are and what we do.
We have plenty of blog posts where you can meet some of the people you will be working with, take a look at the Work section to learn about some of our award-winning work, or check our Latest page for a snapshot of some of our more recent projects.
