Celebrating Halloween, Design Bridge Style

31 October is one of our most favourite days of the year, and this year we’ve been celebrating Halloween in true DB style. Over in London, we challenged our new juniors to organise a party fit for ghosts, ghouls and creatures of the night. Here’s Hannah M to tell you a bit more…

“Following the release of Stranger Things on Netflix (a subject Jason wrote about a little while back), we were inspired to transform the DB London basement space into a supernatural woodland…

‘if you go down to the woods today,
you’re sure of a big surprise…’

With a raging bonfire, handmade silhouette lanterns and an abandoned den photo booth, we invited the team to party in a fairytale nightmare…

A troop of scouts fell foul of a group of lumberjacks, and even The Spice Girls made an appearance…

The crowning costume was Mr Trump, alongside his trusty Trumpkin companions, of course!”

Congratulations to Charlie and his team for this horrifying pumpkin, the winner in our carving competition:

Over in our Amsterdam Studio, Halloween was celebrated in a much tastier – but no less gruesome – way. It was time for a bake off! The teams were challenged to create a selection of special edition Halloween-themed treats, with points awarded for attractiveness, taste, concept and spookiness by our judges Claire “Berry” and Frank “Hollywood”…

A big congrats to Mike who won the coveted Bake Off Rolling Pin Trophy for his Kentucky Shrunken Head Cider – a concoction he brewed from not-so innocent apple cider, bourbon, cinnamon and “shrunken heads” (baked apples), which had been expertly carved by his goblin assistants (his kids).

As today is officially All Hollow’s Eve, we thought we would also re-share our special Halloween-themed #666 What We’re Listening To This Week playlist – the perfect soundtrack to a spooky afternoon.

And finally, let’s not forget a very special “thank you” to everyone involved in organising and photographing the Halloween activities in London and Amsterdam. Roll on next year…
