We’re a proud supporter of the D&AD programme, which helps young creatives find their feet in the industry and provides opportunities for emerging talent to hone their skills, establish a network, develop their portfolios, and help launch their careers. And we are excited to be collaborating with D&AD Shift once again with a new programme...

Introducing D&AD Shift Studio – an industry-led learning experience where selected students from past cohorts of D&AD Shift with Google in London and New York work together in teams on a paid creative brief for leading global brands. Oh, and run by Chloé Templeman, a long-time member of the D&AD Shift board.

"I've been working with Shift since it started over 7 years ago, and every year I am blown away by the raw talent that comes through the programme. We wanted to enable more amazing collaboration between alumni and continue to change the face of the industry by bringing the freshest talent together to create a first-of-its-kind Studio.

The Studio has shown that the passion, work ethic, and fresh creative ideas from the night school continue to burn bright in our alumni. I loved every minute, and I truly learned as much from them as I hope they did from me as their Studio ECD.

The Studio proves that you don't need a degree, you just need a chance and someone to back you, and I'm excited to see where the next brief takes us."

- Chloe Templeman, D&AD Shift Studio ECD

During the five weeks of Shift Studio, we also held talks - including one on Motion and Branding with Alessandro Foschini, DB London’s Motion Creative Director, who has over ten years of experience to share. And our very own Ella Smith, Eve Wallis, James Green, Will Bennett, and Kirstie Hamilton were also on hand for support as mentors leading their teams to respond to a live client brief from National Geographic.

Check out what our mentors had to say about their experience...

Ella

“It was great to be involved in the first-ever D&AD Shift Studio. I was blown away by the sheer creative talent of the teams. It was an amazing opportunity for these emerging designers to work on such a well-known brand and bring it to the forefront of Gen-Z's minds. Chloe, the other mentors, and I watched the final pitches together, and it was such an empowering evening – the standard of creative work was so high, and we all left feeling inspired by the work, which had been created in just a few weeks.”

- Ella Smith, Designer, Mentor to Team 1

Kirstie

“I loved the experience of being part of D&AD Shift Studio - having the opportunity to mentor such talented creatives was a real privilege. I think it is so important to be able to work collaboratively with others from different creative backgrounds. And it was exciting to see everyone approach the project in different ways and come together to bring their ideas to life. It also gives great insight into how we would approach taking on a project here at Design Bridge.”

- Kirstie Hamilton, Designer, Mentor to Team 2;

Will

“Working with Shift Studio was such a great time, and I was able to mentor some brilliant creatives and work on a fascinating and challenging brief. I was extremely impressed with all the team's work, and general creativity, and cannot wait to see what they all do in the future.”

- Will Bennett, Senior Designer, Mentor to Team 3

Eve

“Being part of the first-ever Shift Studio has been such a fun experience. I have been blown away by everyone's talent throughout the process and am excited to see their ideas come to life. For me, a highlight of Shift Studio has to be watching all the pitches and being truly moved by all their incredible ideas and hard work.”

- Eve Wallis, Designer, Mentor to Team 4

James

“Getting genuine insight from Gen-Z and diverse creative backgrounds was very inspirational for me. The team embraced that National Geographic had come to them for fresh new thinking and was well up for the challenge - they immediately got stuck into the brief! I am so proud to have worked with such a talented team who aren't afraid of doing something radical.”

- James Green, Designer, Mentor to Team 5
