Ahh the first week of January. By now you have made it through the first few days back at work, probably broken at least one New Year’s resolution, and (for our UK-based readers) formed your own opinion on the Gregg’s vegan sausage roll. But if you’re still in need of a little creative inspiration to help kickstart your year, here come some of our favourite stories from the week…
Other than for our sunny Singapore colleagues, it’s feeling pretty wintery around the DB Studios at the moment. So on the theme of winter, here are some lovely images by Swiss photographer Pierre Pellegrini, whose quiet and reflective highly contrasted black and white style captures still moments in remote wintry spaces.
Not bored of board game, we love this reworked version of classic game “Guess Who?”, aptly named “Who’s She?”…
Created by Playeress and beautifully illustrated by Daria Golab, the crafted wooden board features a diverse selection of strong, courageous, inspiring women for players to learn about, including Malala Yousafzai, Amelia Earhart and Frida Kahlo – it’s not about their looks, but their accomplishments and what makes them influential and amazing.
You can find out more on the game’s Kickstarter page, which far exceeded its funding target last year, where you can also pre-order the game.

Our favourite find on Instagram this week is a collection of traditional Japanese block designs. We’re particularly fond of the ones that give a glimpse into what’s hidden behind the walls they’re embedded within…
And finally this week, what is probably the most creative thing we’ve seen this year: Toto’s ‘Africa’ played on veg (skip back to the beginning if you want to see the instrument creation process). Enjoy!
Who knew pumpkins could sound so sweet!
