I’ve overhead lots of chat in our London Studio about going to weddings this weekend and, rather unintentionally, this week’s Friday Favourites fit with the traditional old English wedding rhyme and custom of “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”…
Our favourite Instagram find this week is @madebackthen – a curated feed of vintage graphic design with a focus on modernism. Here are a few of our favourites:
Domestic gods and goddesses (we have many excellent ones here at DB) will be familiar with the KitchenAid®, and this week Tash points us in the direction of Mini Moments – a short film series created to promote a new, smaller version of the iconic domestic appliance. The films have been made in collaboration with social media-famous chefs, bakers and food bloggers all over the world, and offer a snapshot into their city lives and the small spaces in which they live, including 2 of our homes – New York and London. Check out the films below:
Tash is particularly fond of the sound design that kicks in at 33 seconds into the first film. It’s making us hungry just thinking about it…
You never know what you might find at a good flea market, jumble sale or vintage store, and Thibault Kinder’s “Exhumed photographs” project proves that creative treasures can be discovered. Kinder seeks out old, unwanted SD cards, goes through the photographs left on them and then shares his favourites on Tumblr.

More photography this week, this time from French photographer François Peyranne and his “ALL I NEED IS BLUE” series. The aerial shots of crystal clear seas and perfectly blue skies makes us want to book a holiday…
See more on Fubiz.
If you find yourself in Amsterdam, here are the things that Jade recommends you check out…
FabLab Open Day
Interested in digital tech and innovation? Tomorrow, FabLab Amsterdam opens its doors and invites you to come in armed with ideas and designs, and then bring them to life using equipment such as 3D printers, milling machines and laser cutters. Find out more and book your spot here.
This weekend is Science Weekend at Micropia (the world’s only museum dedicated to micro-organisms, fact fans) so if you’re interested in learning about the tiny things living in and around your body, then this is the place for you! Find out more here.
Expat Fair for Internationals
Calling an expats (or people thinking about moving to the Netherlands to join DB Amsterdam – we are hiring)! On Sunday the “i am not a tourist” Expat fair will take place at Beurs van Berlage. Here you will find all sorts of useful information, advice and some brilliant contacts to help you set up and establish a new life in our favourite Dutch city. Check the website for more info: expatfair.nl
Whether you’re at a wedding, in Amsterdam, or doing something completely different this weekend, we hope you have a good one.
