#YouMeTeaNow – Design Bridge supports Lipton to help tackle loneliness

Loneliness can affect people of all ages and, right now, 1 in 3 of us is feeling lonely. Loneliness can be a physical feeling that increases blood pressure and cholesterol, it can activate our stress responses and affect our immune system. It is creeping into our daily lives, hidden and unexpected, and it can have a real impact on our mental wellbeing if it’s ignored.

Studies have shown that just 15 mins of quality conversation can drastically reduce our chances of feeling lonely. As the original “social tea”, our global clients at Lipton wanted to shine a light on the issue and encourage positive action, so we’ve been working with them on a brand new initiative: Project Unlonely.

Yesterday marked World Mental Health Day so it was the perfect opportunity to launch Lipton’s new brand purpose, and we all joined in to support.

At 3pm, in each of our 5 Studios around the world, we stepped away from our desks, put a pause on our projects, and took 15 minutes out to make a cup of tea AND make a connection…

What’s important to add is that isn’t just a 1-day campaign. It’s a movement to inspire change. Lipton will be using this as a springboard for all sorts of activities around the world, and we are encouraging everyone to get involved. So take time for tea, make time for your friends and family, for your colleagues and contacts, because together we can start to cut those moments of loneliness down, one connection at a time.
