Legal & General’s purpose is to improve the lives of its customers, build a better society for the long term and create value for shareholders. The 2023 Annual Report focused on how Legal & General is investing in a brighter future, showcasing the substantial financial investments it has made in regenerating communities and building a better society.

The 2023 Climate and Nature Report provided insight into how the Group is combatting climate change as part of its sustainability strategy. The Social Impact Report continued along this theme, demonstrating how Legal & General is investing in long-term assets from housing to renewable energy.

This range of corporate reports illustrates the extent to which our relationship with Legal & General has grown over time. Starting with the annual report and expanding into the supplementary reports, we worked with the company to build its corporate website, produced various communications materials and, most recently, evolved its brand.

The annual report sits at the heart of Legal & General’s integrated approach to communications. As such, we embedded the new brand into the report, and subsequently into its Climate and Social Impact Reports—utilising the new brand values of dynamism and flexibility.

Legal & General weaves its purpose across its reporting suite, both in design and content. The front cover sets the tone for the entire report, using aerial photography to capture Cardiff’s Central Square, where Legal & General has invested £1bn into developing the local area. Meanwhile feature spreads such as “Regenerate” and “Protect” provide further detail on its purpose in action.

Our business underwent significant change during 2023, and we have aimed to produce a report that introduces our new CEO as well as explaining the complex impact of IFRS 17 in an understandable way. We feel it is a clear articulation of our purpose.
